The Ocean Bluff Revetment was constructed in the 1930's and has had minimal repairs over the years. The rocks comprising the revetment have been falling off the revetment for many years.  There was a beach at Ocean Bluff as late as the 1980's, as shown in this picture. While the town has built and repaired seawalls both north and south of the revetment, this section continues to remain in disrepair.  Studies by the Coastal Zone Management as far back as 2006 have declared several areas of this shoreline to be "High Priority" for repair.

A group of concerned residents has created the Ocean Bluff Preservation Association to protect the houses and infrastructure along this section of Marshfield shoreline.
